History:
At the joint 2005 ICoMST/RMC meetings held in Baltimore, Maryland, the newly elected AMSA Student Board of Directors (SBOD) met for the first time and planned their goals for their year of service. One of their goals was to perform long-term planning for AMSA Student Membership. With consensus of the SBOD and the support of our advisors, this item was brought to the attention to the AMSA Board of Directors (BOD) at their 2005 fall meeting. The BOD gave their approval and support to conduct a strategic planning retreat. So in March 2006, AMSA leadership, AMSA staff, and SBOD descended into College Station, TX for 48 hours of intense work and planning. The result was the following strategic plan that has re-defined the AMSA student membership, their mission statement, by-laws and has carved a direction for future growth of the student membership.
Participants:
Dan Hale, advisor; Wendy Feik Pinkerton, advisor; Jason Apple, AMSA BOD; Thomas Powell, AMSA Exec. Director; Betsy Booren, SBOD President; Chad Carr, Midwest SBOD; Ryan Cox, East SBOD; Carrie Mason, At-Large SBOD; Chris Raines, At-Large SBOD; Corri Rekow, West SBOD; Stacy Scramlin, past SBOD; Kristin Voges, South SBOD; and Wendy Woerner, SBOD Past-President.
