David Meisinger The AMSA has a long history of recognizing achievements and contributions through our awards program. This is one of the rare, but appropriate times when special recognition is merited. In conversations over the past several months among the AMSA board, it was determined that two Special Recognition awards would be presented in 2005. |

Most AMSA members know David Meisinger's and of his loyal service to AMSA as a member, committee member and chair, and as its past secretary-treasurer. What some might not know is that David is a true defender and supporter of many of AMSA programs, especially its meat judging program.
To bring you up to date, David was recently named the new director of the National Swine Research Center in Ames, Iowa, but it was his years at the National Pork Producers Council, then the National Pork Board, that bring him this recognition today.
Dave was a genuine backer of the AMSA meat judging program at times when it needed this knight in shining armor. He brought the program much-needed financial backing from the National Pork Producers, then the National Pork Board. They have supported the judging programs for nearly 20 years, and today support nearly 25% of the costs associated with the judging programs. The judging program would not survive without the support of the National Pork Board.
For his steadfast support of AMSA programs, the association is proud to recognize David Meisinger with a Special Recognition Award.
