Why do you want to be on the AMSA Student Membership Board of Directors and what qualifications make you the best candidate for the position?

From my first interaction with the AMSA student board at the Student Leadership Conference in 2015, I was immediately drawn to their collective passion for the meat industry and genuine interest in providing the AMSA student body with educational and networking opportunities. There is no question the student board of directors are some of the most elite meat science students from around the country. I believe my passion for meat science and extensive experience in leadership and student development positions would allow me to positively contribute to the success of the student board in the coming year.

What does your AMSA membership mean to you?

I gained my AMSA membership as a member of the 2015 Meat Judging Team at Oklahoma State University. During that same year I was able to experience the benefits of being an AMSA member by attending the Student Leadership Conference and the Reciprocal Meat Conference. Through those experiences, and my continued attendance at AMSA events in the years since, I have been able to realize and reap the networking, career and social benefits of my membership. As an AMSA intern, I was able to see from a different perspective how vast the membership of AMSA is, from students to industry professionals to members of the academic community. It is a privilege to be a member of an organization that offers such tremendous opportunity for growth and a multitude of resources that aid us in our time as students and continues into our professional careers.
