2107 Mentor and Legacy Funds Gain Momentum

Mar 08, 2017

The current AMSA Mentor and Legacy recognition funds are all showing progress. The fund for Jeff Savell (TAMU) has achieved its minimum goal, and the fund for Gordon Davis (CEV) is only two thousand from its baseline goal. There is still time for individuals and groups to be named on those plaques as charter donors. Donations of any size will increase the prestige and the impact of these recognition funds, which further student development and meat judging programs.

The Mentor recognition in memory of Chris Raines (Penn State) doubled its progress since last RMC, reaching nearly $10,000. This fund's proceeds will provide hands-on opportunities for students and young professionals interested in continuing Chris' dream: agriculture advocacy and consumer outreach. The minimum target for a Mentor recognition is $25,000.

Other developing recognition funds have progressed about 10% toward their initial goals. These include Mentor recognitions for Craig Bacon (Tyson) and Jimmy Keeton (TAMU) plus Legacy recognitions for Ken Johnson (NCBA, retired) and Dave Anderson (Elanco, retired).
